Vice Chairman of Global Fine Arts Simon Shaw dives into an incredibly provocative work by none other than Pablo Picasso. The piece, Femme dans un Fauteuil (1927), shows Picasso at a complicated crossroads between muses, as the painting was produced the same month Picasso would meet Marie Therese Walter, in addition with his ongoing marriage with Olga Khokhlova. We see elements of both figures within Femme dans un Fauteuil, as Simon notes, and it makes for a truly exquisite transitional work of art that is central to both Picasso’s Oeuvre and the David M. Solinger Collection.
